Originally from Toronto Canada, Ravi received his BFA in Communication Design from Carnegie Mellon University where he was awarded the AIGA Student Design Medallion. After several years of working in Boston, Ravi relocated to New York to be Creative Lead of the Tank NY office. He has directed projects for a wide range of clients including Cole Haan, IMO, Salomon Sports, Shure, Web.com, IAC, Ice Bar and Virgin. Ravi completed his MFA in Graphic Design at Yale which focused on the displacement of imagery and people across cultures.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Tank NY. New York, New York.
Creative Director. 2005 to Present
Creative lead for all projects run out of the New York office. Manage and direct office related issues from team structures and employment to office expenses. Responsible for office profitability, new business development and overall creative attitude.
Tank NY deals with various degrees of brand development from web and print to retail and restaurant environments. Projects range from crafting the brand language and visual identity for IAC Interactive Corp through large scale video screens to developing a mark, typeface and identity for Spring Street Union a small, brooklyn-based, music collective, and label.

Senior Designer. 1998 to 2003
Direct an interdisciplinary design team made up of designers, writers and researchers. Responsible for the management and direction of design solutions from initial problem discoveries and concepts through to the delivery of various communication solutions. Duties include direction of overall design and photography, involvement in architecting team structures and proposals and managing client expectations and feedback.
Solutions vary in size, complexity and media and include various degrees of brand identity development, product architecture and retail presence. Projects range from crafting the content and design of an online prospectus for the Berklee College of Music to developing a brand language enabling Shure Incorporated to successfully venture from the music industry into consumer markets.

Junior Designer. 1997 to 1998
Specialized in brand communications and product development in the Communications Group for an international, interdisciplinary, design firm. Contributed in the development and execution of design concepts and solutions, participated in group critiques, client meetings and presentations.
Established a new product language for Hasbro International’s internal product design group. Designed a visual language and package for Acme United’s Tag-it products and envisioned an international retail merchandiser for the cymbal manufacturer Avedis Zildjian Co.

Developed a body of work that supported my thesis topic on the visual and theoretical idea of displacement in design. The metaphor of displacement is a search for ways in which to look at time, space, place and experience from several points of view rather than one.
